Dentists are, unfortunately, one of the most mistrusted professionals in the health field.

We have all been in a situation where we receive a recommendation from a dentist and, sometimes, a sense of doubt  casts over our minds. Usually, this  occurs because either there is no discomfort or because the patient has regularly attended dental appointments  and now, for some unforeseen circumstance (i.e. relocation or insurance issues),  a new dentist is consulted, and there is an entire list of NEW recommended -treatment.

In the same manner that the  85-billion-dollar-a-year-dental-insurance industry evaluates dental claims, we can establish, with  a high degree of certainty, a  second opinion. This is accomplished by using a licensed-practicing-dentist to evaluate ALL submitted information from the initial dental office that made the recommendation.

We're prepared to help you obtain a second dental opinion by simply forwarding us the treatment plan in question (the list of  recommended treatment by  dentist), recent x-rays and/or any photographs (the same x-rays and any available photographs that were used to create the INITIAL recommended-treatment in question). BASED ON THe SUBMITTED INFORMATION, a response would be generated within 7 days stating our DEGREE OF AGREEMENT  with the  treatment plan in question.

About dentalopinionsecond.com

Our Experience

After 15 years in the dental industry, Dr. Rafael Caniza DDS, a practicing dentist, noticed a common theme in the industry--a general sentiment of mistrust between the some patients and their dentist. The 2 dental scenarios are always the same: 1) the patient with dental issues on every tooth but feels no discomfort. 2) the patient who is new to the office and has, ROUTINELY, seen a dentist in the past but now is hit with lengthy list of proposed-treatment. . Both scenarios may come with a  HUGE price tag and  leave the patient to believe that the dentist is proposing unnecessary treatment . The patient may become irate and  begin to frantically make appointments seeking a second opinions. This may prove to be costly, time consuming and uncomfortable for the patient.

In both scenarios previously mentioned, a dental professional can truthfully  argue that it is not uncommon for some people to have dental problems with  no symptoms and for dentist to have a different set of opinions to treat dental pathology. HOWEVER, it has been our experience, especially with the advent of corporate dentistry, there is a lot of "overtreatment" , instilling fear,  and "over-diagnosing" playing out in the dental industry. This prompts patients to seek a consultation for a second opinion that will either confirm or question the initial dentist's recommendation. At times, with a trained eye and  within just a few minutes of examining the patients forwarded radiographs, it can be concluded the category in which the original treatment plan falls under--CONFIRMATION OR QUESTIONABLE.  Over the years of practice and experience, we an can conclude with a high degree of certainty, in the same manner dental insurance companies pay-out millions of dollars in dental claims, a second  opinion can be easily obtained  by a licensed dentist by evaluating the following : 1) recent x-rays, 2) recent photographs (if available) and  3) treatment plan in question . These 3 items can be emailed to dentist@dentalopinionsecond.com. A response based on the information submitted will be sent within 7 days.
